Holy smokes you guys, this session was so much fun!! Karisa found me though my instagram page and reached out to me to book a session. They recently moved to Billings, MT and wanted to have photographs in their {adorable} house before they do some remodels/painting and such. Let me just say I am now obsessed with in home photo sessions. Karisa is an artist and their house is so cute and thoughtfully decorated. One part that was super fun for me was embracing being perfectly imperfect, which I very much am, but also photography can be that way as well. Some of my favorite shots were blurry and not perfectly sharp, but it shows a mama tackling and then snuggling her boy on the bed, a big white dog giving slobbery kisses, etc. Those are moments I was able to document that means so much as a parent, and someday will be even more special for a son. Also, might I just add, PUPPIES - scroll though the pictures to see some of the hilarious puppy faces! Anytime I get to see sweet doggos, I'm happy! :)
In home sessions, mine being taken in Billings, Montana and the surrounding areas, are really fun in the way that you can highlight or showcase the things that are special to you. I love that these guys snuggled each other holding their favorite coffee mugs, this family doing puzzles like they often enjoy doing, and that I got to capture Karisa in her art studio. These are things that you can't show off outdoors, don't get me wrong I love photographing in nature, but sometimes whether the weather isn't cooperating or you have small children, or just want to remember your house as it is (maybe you're moving away or recently moved here) in home sessions can be super special and meaningful.
I also have to mention, your house doesn't have to be perfect to document your family. It goes back to what I was saying earlier, perfectly imperfect is my jam, and honestly the focus being on connection with your loved ones is what shines through. I will photograph you in the best light.
I'd love to know if you've ever had an in home photography session? Would you ever book one?
